Presenter Bios

Below are the biographies of our core presenters. Not all of them will present at every colloquium or we may be joined guest presenters.


Craig Berry
Catherine Berry joined Ordo Templi Orientis in 1987. She has held a variety of leadership positions in the Order, at the local level (Master of Baphomet Lodge and Deputy Master of LVX Oasis, among others), the national level (Bishop of EGC, member of the Grand Tribunal, USGL Internet Secretary), and the international level. Despite the appearance of leading an entirely virtual existence, she does occupy a physical body in Los Angeles, where she lives with her wife Leanne. Among her personal areas of research are the role of humor in magick and the culture and philosophy of the ancient Aztecs..

Vere Chappell (Frater SLQ) began studying and practicing magick over thirty years ago, and joined Ordo Templi Orientis in 1989. Shortly thereafter he founded LVX Camp (now Star Sapphire Lodge) in Los Angeles, and served as its master for eight years. In 1997 he was appointed Grand Treasurer General for US Grand Lodge, and in 2005 he became Treasurer General for the OTO worldwide. He continues to serve US Grand Lodge as a Sovereign Grand Inspector General and a member of the Kaaba and Strategic Planning committees. He is chartered to initiate through the VI° and has conducted numerous initiations over the last twenty years. He is also a Bishop of Ecclesia Gnostica Catholica and regularly celebrates the Gnostic Mass. Professionally, Bro. Chappell earned his MBA from Pepperdine University and a certificate in Nonprofit Financial Planning and Management from California State University, Fullerton. He also has a doctoral degree in Human Sexuality and is a founding member of the Academia Ordo Templi Orientis, a scholarly research society within OTO. He is the author of Sexual Outlaw, Erotic Mystic: The Essential Ida Craddock (Red Wheel/Weiser, 2010) and editor of Lunar and Sex Worship by Ida Craddock (Teitan Press, 2010) and Snowdrops from a Curate's Garden by Aleister Crowley (Edda, 2013). Hank (Frater Diapason) has been an initiate member of O.T.O. since 1991 e.v., and currently serves as the Grand Treasurer General for O.T.O. U.S.A. He held the office of Body Master for Sekhet-Maat Lodge in Portland, Oregon from 1999-2004 e.v. He is also active as Treasurer of the National Conference Committee, Chartered Initiator, Initiator Trainer, Most Wise Sovereign of Psyche-Eros  Rose Croix Chapter, E.G.C. Sister Hattie Quinn (Sr. BTH SHMSH) has been an initiate since Anno IVix. She has held many local positions over the years, including her favorites: Deputy Master, Newsletter Editor, and Seneschal. She recently moved to Fort Worth, TX, where she is enjoying a new life with her magical partner, Satyr; incubating as an author; working as a Paralegal.

     She joined the Electoral College in Anno IVxviii, and serves as College Parliamentarian, Kaaba Committee Liaison, and Mentor Secretary. She also serves as Secretary and Kaaba Liaison for the Committee for the Advancement of Thelemic Families. 

     In her spare time, she practices magic; plays games; is learning to play the guitar; advocates for sexual freedom; plans and caters events; and is learning square-foot gardening. She spends most of her limited down time cooking, reading, researching, writing, and exploring Texas. 

     Her Latin motto is 'Superius Exemplar Semper Praebeo', colloquially meaning 'I always raise the bar', reflecting her relentless drive to improvement. She likes things "Just-So" and idolizes Benjamin Franklin. Email Hattie...

Eliza McBryde served as Deputy Master and Treasurer of Sekhet-Maat Lodge in Portland, OR.  She was seated on the Electoral College in 2001 e.v., and completed her term in 2012 e.v.  She remains an active member of her local lodge.  Her work on the College included designing and implementing the Mentor Program and the Camp in Formation Program.  She created the National Conference Committee and served as its first Chair.  She currently runs Kaaba Colloquium.

Soror Alecto joined our Holy Order in 2003 e.v.  Shortly thereafter she began her administrative career in the O.T.O., serving as Treasurer of Tahuti Lodge in New York City.  She held this position until 2007 e.v., when she was asked to serve the Order as Master of Tahuti Lodge, a position which she currently holds.  Sr. Alecto is also Secretary of Tahuti Chapter R+C and is a member of the Committee of Four.  She is a chartered initiator and an ordained E.G.C. Priestess.  She is a member of the Psychology Guild, the U.S.G.L. Education Committee, and serves in the E.C. Mentor Program.
