Fall Kaaba: Registration is NOW OPEN. Save the date: Oct 23-25.
The Treasury Office is one of the most important—and often least understood—roles within a Local Body. Accurate financial records, timely reporting, and sound treasury practices are essential to maintaining healthy, sustainable communities and ensuring compliance with U.S. Grand Lodge requirements.
This Kaaba Academy class provides a practical introduction to the responsibilities of the Local Body Treasurer and the systems that support effective financial administration. Whether you are currently serving as Treasurer, preparing to assume the office, or are a Local Master or officer who wishes to better understand treasury operations, this class is designed to provide a strong foundation.
During this 45-minute training, followed by a live Q&A session, participants will explore:
The role and responsibilities of the Local Body Treasurer
Organizing and maintaining an effective Treasury Office
Financial recordkeeping and annual ledger management
Membership dues tracking and confidentiality
Quarterly reporting requirements and timelines
Financial planning and budgeting fundamentals
Treasury best practices and common reporting mistakes
Building continuity through documentation and officer transitions
The class is presented by Brother Derek Bales, Vice-Chair of Kaaba Colloquium and E.C. Elector, with Brother Hank Hadeed, U.S.G.L. Grand Treasurer General, joining for discussion and live Q&A.
Every participant will receive a comprehensive Treasury Office Training Guide developed specifically for U.S.G.L. Local Body officers.
Originally written by Brother Hank Hadeed and expanded for Kaaba Academy, this companion guide goes well beyond the material presented during the class. It includes practical guidance, examples, templates, and best practices covering:
Treasury office organization
Financial planning and budgeting
Annual ledgers and dues tracking
Quarterly reporting procedures
Recordkeeping and document organization
Banking and inventory management
Officer transitions and treasury continuity
Designed as a practical reference, the guide can be used long after the class as an ongoing resource for Local Body Treasurers and leadership teams.
This class is open to U.S.G.L. members of I° and above who are in good standing (dues current).
Current Treasurers, Local Masters, Secretaries, future officers, and any member interested in Local Body financial administration are encouraged to attend.
Attendance is free, but registration is required.
